SHEFFIELD BSF PROGRAMME
Sheffield City Council is a Pathfinder Authority leading the way on the Government’s BSF Programme which aims to rebuild or renew every one of England’s secondary schools over the next 15 years. The programme integrates the provision of ICT for the very first time and looks to create inspirational learning environments for children and young people.
Financial close was achieved at the end of July 2007. Sheffield City Council has contracted with Sheffield LEP (Local Education Partnership) to deliver the BSF Programme. The full BSF Programme for Sheffield is scheduled to be complete by 2012 with a value around £400m.
As part of Phase 1 of BSF funding, three schools (Silverdale, Newfield and Talbot) will be delivered through the PFI route, with the schools due to be complete and open in January 2009. Silverdale is one of the highest performing schools in Sheffield which will be fully re-built. Newfield and Talbot SEN (Special Educational Needs) schools will be co-located on the present Newfield site creating an all inclusive environment and learning opportunity.
As part of the BSF Programme CorLa is contracted by Sheffield LEP to provide a full range of SPV and LEP management services.
